Our Staff

Kelly & Mark Watson, Proprietors:  College friends turned sweethearts, Kelly became a corporate designer and Mark, an engineer.  Having lived abroad and traveled extensively, the couple transformed their love for London’s Kensington Palace and Gardens into their own spectacular, custom interpretation on 23 lush acres of woodland in Gig Harbor, Washington.  For seven years, the estate was an award-winning venue for elegant, fairytale weddings.  But Kelly and Mark were soon inspired to shift their professional focus.  After ten years of personally caring for their own aging family members, they realized their talents and unique philosophy of care could meet a need in the assisted living Gig Harbor community.  Kensington Gardens Estate Living Retirement Community and its highly personalized model of luxury senior care in an intimate, home-style setting were designed to care perfectly for their loved ones—and yours.  Kelly and Mark live on the premises, and treat each resident like family.

Alicia Klumpp, Executive Director:  Alicia has a compassionate heart for service, senior advocacy, and the industry of caring.  Her deft administrative and leadership talents were honed by fifteen years mentoring youth and directing community charities.  But she credits the many beloved seniors in her care over the years for having truly ignited her passion for the profession of caregiving.  Alicia reflects, “Over time, aging friends and loved ones may forget my name, but they ALWAYS remember how I make them feel."  Alicia offers that gift to every Kensington Gardens resident, and it’s joyfully contagious.

Lisa Browning, Activities Director:  A long-time caregiver and resident of Gig Harbor, Lisa exudes through her warmth and radiant smile a special love and affinity for seniors.  At Kensington Gardens, she devotes herself exclusively to the creative, daily activities that inspire meaningful social interaction and stimulation.  In addition to proactive community networking, this means investing the time necessary to know each resident like family.  “I love planning thoughtful activities that bring out the very best in every resident.  I love helping each one achieve and maintain the highest quality of life possible,” Lisa beams.  “Most of all, I love watching them realize that we truly know them and they matter.”

Shari Bass, RN:  Our Staff RN, Shari brings over nineteen years of expertise in Critical Care (ICU), Cardiac Care, and Digestive Care nursing to the Kensington Gardens team.  She assesses the medical requirements of new residents and serves as a consultant in their care.  Shari also works closely with Kelly Watson and a gifted team of care partners to provide for the skilled nursing or medical needs of each resident.

Our Care Staff:  Many were first drawn to this vocation by caring for aging loved ones at home.  Our screening standards are meticulously high and it shows in the maturity, professionalism, and positive attitudes our hand-selected staff members bring to their work.  Low employee turnover translates also to superior continuity of care, which is especially important when transitioning our clients from daily assistance at home to skilled assisted care at Kensington Gardens.
